Grand Central Bowling hosts a special soul bowl event on Sunday nights. They play classic funk and soul music and cult movie classics, I kept these things in mind when I designed this poster, giving a 70's era look and feel to the imagery and typography.
I originally created this poster while working as an intern with Visit Florida. I wanted it to embody the "carefree Florida lifestyle" portrayed in ads and media from the 1950's. I've revisited this piece over the years to update my illustration and typography, but the overall layout remains unchanged.
This poster was created for a Kentucky Derby viewing party. I chose classic sign painter style typography and vintage imagery to create a look that emulates the golden age of horse racing.
This poster was created to promote a series of beach parties at a Hooters location in coastal Florida. I used tiki style typography and imagery to create a beach oriented look and feel for the parties.
I created this poster as an homage to the vintage aviation posters of the 20th Century. I chose to promote flights to Bimini on a small airline called Chalk's Ocean Airways. Chalk's Ocean Airways has been in operation in Florida since 1919 and claims to be the oldest continuosly operating commercial airline in the world.
This poster was created to promote a Design Week Portland art show. Select artists were asked to create custom artwork from donated bowling pins. Artworks were then displayed in a gallery setting and auctioned off for charity. I mixed various imagery and typefaces to create a single collage of a bowling pin.
Deschutes Brewery needed some artwork to promote their annual Salute to Summer party and fashion show. The show coincides with the release of their summer seasonal beer, so I chose bright colors, rich typography, and icons of various outdoor activities to help bring the message to their audience.
As the name might suggest, National Bowling Day is an annual holiday that promotes bowling as a fun family activity. I used the familiar image of Uncle Sam to communicate the patriotic side of the holiday, and placed a bowling ball in his hand to drive the message home.
I've always admired the artwork associated with the annual Dia de Los Muertos holiday in Mexico. I decided to create this poster as a fun side-project from my busy schedule.
